Workflow Automation
MP3 to WordPress Blog Automation Tool
For Steven Scott at Double Tap TV
The Challenge
Steven Scott, a blind presenter and podcaster known for hosting Double Tap TV and Double Tap on AMI in Canada, wanted to dramatically reduce the manual work involved in publishing content. He needed a tool that could take an MP3 of a podcast and automatically transcribe it, summarise it, give it a title, and post it as a blog to his WordPress site — with the ability to quickly and easily make any required edits.
The Solution
I developed a custom Node.js web application called ZWhat — an automation tool tailored to Steven's needs, designed with accessibility and ease of navigation at its core.
How It Works
- Accessibility first: Available on any device via a web app, designed with accessibility and ease of navigation in mind.
- Audio processing & transcription: The MP3 is transcribed using OpenAI's Whisper API for fast, high-quality results.
- AI-powered summarisation: A Large Language Model cleans up the transcription, generates a title, and summarises the content.
- Review & edit: The transcription, summary and title are presented so they can be easily reviewed, edited, or re-generated as needed.
- WordPress integration: At the press of a single button, the tool uploads the audio, summary and title as a draft blog post — complete with an audio player.
- User options: Any prompts used to generate the summary and titles can be modified, alongside other user-specific settings.
"Andy was incredibly helpful to us and went above and beyond to fit our unique requirements for the project. He took time and care to ensure the product worked to our satisfaction. He is a delight to work with and I only wish we had more work to give him!"
